THOMASVILLE, Ga. (WTXL) - The Thomasville Police Departments says they've already given a number warnings to local drivers during their Hands-Free Law grace period.

Since the Hands-Free Driving law went into effect earlier this month, law enforcement officials say they have already noticed drivers violating the law at stop lights, backroads and many other areas.

During this grace period, officials say they are hoping to find ways to educate people about the new laws.

"They've been in intersections, they've been right in the road, you'll be surprised. They'll come up right beside an officer, we're almost to the end of this grace period but we're still trying to educate people," said Major Wade Glover. "So we encourage you stay off your phone get you a hands free device."

TPD officials say the grace period will end at the end of this month.
