THOMASVILLE, Ga. (WTXL) - Last summer Thomasville's planning department started accepting applications for grants to help residents move into their own homes.
The Community Home Investment Program, or CHIP, helps potential home buyers transition from renters to homeowners.
A home on South Street is the first of five houses to be built using more than $600,000 the city received from the Georgia Department of Community Affairs.
The home on South Street is having an open house on Thursday, November 9.
It's already been sold but a similar home on Fern Street funded through CHIP is up for sale.
