THOMASVILLE, GA (WTXL) - Caterpillar Inc. announced Friday that it is closing its fuel manufacturing facility in Thomasville.
According to the company, the decision comes as part of a global restructuring and cost reduction effort.
An estimated 200 jobs will be lost in the Thomasville closure, says Caterpillar officials. Those jobs range from office and production employees to production staff.
The company says it expects the closure in Thomasville to be completed within the next 12 to 18 months.
Other U.S. locations being closed by the company include facilities in New Mexico, Wisconsin and Illinois, according to Caterpillar.
