THOMASVILLE, Ga. (WTXL) - Thomasville has turned into a go-to destination for good food!
Over the past decade, the Rose City has seen more restaurants and cafes pop up.
Grab a fork. It's time to eat your way through Thomasville. The Rose City is full of places for a foodie to enjoy.
"We believe that business breeds more business, and so, if we have several really good restaurants that's good for everybody," said Caleb Brown, the founder of Jonah's Fish & Grits.
Jonah's Fish & Grits has been reeling in hungry customers for 10 years.
"What we do is unique in the fact that it's a scratch kitchen -- that we're bringing in, we're sourcing in all sorts of varieties of fish," said Brown.
The main attraction: Shrimp and grits. It's one of Jonah's signature dishes.
"It's comfort food, but it's comfort food that's refined," said Brown.
Just a few steps away on Broad Street is Sweet Grass Dairy Cheese Shop. The business features hand-crafted cheese from its nearby farm.
"It's kind of evolved into this big restaurant/retail spot for really the downtown, for everybody to kind of gravitate toward," said Ian Badger, the general manager of Sweet Grass Dairy Cheese Shop.
The go-to dish at Sweet Grass? The "Taste of Thomasville" cheese board.
"It gives guests the chance to come in and just try the separate cheeses that we make four miles up the road," said Badger. "It's a great conversation starter, and then, our Pimento burger with bourbon-bacon jam is out-of-this-world good."
Not far from downtown is the historic Thomasville train depot. It's here where you'll find another place to chow down.
"It's a very small town, but just oozing with wonderful flavors and personality and, you know, people want to come back," said Suzette Wagner, the owner of SASS.
SASS was the idea of two sisters from Albany who transformed the train depot into a restaurant and event space.
"People shopped local here, and they have just been wonderful to us," said Wagner.
The restaurant features a Cajun shrimp and grits and its fried chicken is brined in sweet tea.
"The crust is just absolutely wonderful, and it's just real moist," said Wagner. "It's just got a sweet and savory taste to it."
There are many more places for foodies to check out, especially downtown. It's a city that's bound to feed any appetite.
