THOMASVILLE, Ga. (WTXL) - Thomasville High School is adding a new leadership role for male students, an official homecoming king.

In previous years, the homecoming king did not take the field or serve throughout the year as a leader in the school system.

This year, Reggy Perry was chosen as the first homecoming king to serve beside the homecoming queen, Daria Stephens.

Both students say they are excited to be an ambassador for their student body and school system.

"It's really important to say that I'm one of the leaders of the school. It's a big responsibility, but I feel like I can handle it and try to lead people in the right way," said Stephens. "Not only will my ideas be involved, but his will also. Two people's ideas involved will make a big difference."

The students were voted on by their peers.
