THOMASVILLE, Ga. (WTXL) - The Thomasville Fire Department now has new equipment to help save the lives of animals in the case of a fire.

The Wheeler family recently donated oxygen resuscitation masks to be used on dogs and cats that have been rescued. The masks can be used on pets that have suffered smoke inhalation, and also when pets are exposed to dangerous toxic fumes.

The Wheeler family says pets are important members of many families, and this is just one way they can help their community.

Twelve kits were donated in total. One for each fire and rescue truck in the city.
