THOMASVILLE, Ga. (WTXL) - The Thomasville City Council has given the go-ahead to demolish multiple houses.
Chief Building Official Mark Harmon says there are hundreds of houses eligible for demolition but they selected just five of those to raze in the coming months.
Community members in the area, like Keith Williams, say they are relieved to know something will finally be done with these homes.
Harmon says they are currently inspecting the homes, and soon companies will be bidding on each residence to be demolished.
Once they've selected a bidder, the houses will be removed within 40 to 60 days.
