THOMASVILLE, Ga. (WTXL) - The Thomasville City Council has officially named the business district between the 200 block and 300 block of West Jackson Street and downtown area near the amphitheater.
The West Jackson Street area is now The Bottom, and the downtown amphitheater is now The Ritz Amphitheater.
Both names celebrate the city's African-American history and the importance both landmarks played in the lives of the black community from the early 1900s to 1970s.
