THOMASVILLE, GA (WTXL) - A Thomas County teacher is under arrest after he allegedly sexually assaulted a high school student.
According to Thomas County Schools Superintendent George Kornegay Jr., Eric Dodson was a special education inclusion teacher at Thomas County Middle School.
Kornegay says Dodson was also a coach at the middle school as well as Thomas County Central High School.
It was while he was coaching at the high school that the sexual assault allegedly occurred, Kornegay said.
Dodson resigned Monday after Thomas County Sheriff's Office deputies questioned him, the superintendent said.
Dodson was arrested Tuesday and charged with sexual assault, deputies said. He was held on $10,100 bond, but deputies say he has since been released.
Dodson had been with the district since August when he was a substitute teacher, the school district said. He was made full-time in December.
