THOMAS Co., GA (WTXL) - A narcotics/vice agent with the Thomas County Sheriff's Office has been put on suspension after an incident on Thanksgiving.
According to the Sheriff's Office, Agent Josh Smith was assisting an officer with the Coolidge Police Office in a car chase on Thanksgiving.
The department says the suspect, Ricardo Scott, was resisting arrest when officials caught him.
Smith was attempting to arrest Scott while his gun was in his hand. That is when officials say Scott's gun went off.
Since the incident, Smith was put on paid administrative leave and was given desk duty. On Thursday, Smith was put on a 3 day, unpaid suspension because of the incident.
The Sheriff's Office says at this time they do not know what assignment Smith will be put on when he returns to work.
