THOMAS COUNTY, Ga. (WTXL) - After a year, repairs to a Thomas County church are finally complete.

"Midway Baptist Church" was struck by lightning last May.

The church had at least $200,000 in damages.

Pastor Nathan Fowler says, the process of rebuilding wasn't easy, just months before completion, its storage warehouse caught fire.

Fowler says, he still remembers the thoughts running through his mind in may as he pulled up to see the building filled with smoke.

"I thought with a lot of questions like where do we go from here what do we do. Never having experienced this, I knew it would be a process and a journey, but by the Grace of God what you see is a result of a year," said Fowler."

Fowler says he was worried about losing folks in his congregation.

They were forced to meet in a small building behind the church during the construction.

He says over the past year the church has actually gained members instead of losing.
