CAMILLA, GA (WTXL) - Investigators are looking into an incident where they say a Mitchell County Deputy fired his gun during an arrest.
The Georgia Bureau of Investigation says the incident happened Friday morning shortly after 2 a.m.
They say two Mitchell County deputies were working to arrest Clarence Blanchard for theft near the intersection of Mallard Road and Whipporwill Road.
Blanchard is said to have resisted arrest and one of the deputies fired his gun, according to GBI.
Blanchard was hit in the right arm, says GBI, and was taken to the hospital for treatment. He was later released and taken to the Mitchell County Jail.
Investigators say they are still investigating the incident.
