QUITMAN Ga.-- The WTXL Road Trip continues in Quitman Georgia with a look at its popular downtown Screven street.

Downtown Quitman Georgia was once called the Atlanta of South Georgia in the late 1800's and early 1900's when the town only had a few hundred people.

Today the city of four thousand is still living up to  it's name, embracing everything that the city was built on.

Much has changed since the late 1800's when Quitman was built. While the city had less people, they had more businesses.

Now, the city boasts a bigger population and a generation of locals ready to carry on the legacy of Screven street.

The city is under what many are calling a resurgence, business owners are moving back home, opening up shop, but there's still room on Screven Street for the city's founding industry, agriculture. Local farmers choose to sell their goods on Screven Street.
