TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - Country music star Merle Haggard died on his birthday Wednesday from complications of pneumonia.
The 79-year-old legend was scheduled to play a concert in Tallahassee this June.
The Moon says they will soon begin the process of refunding the nearly sold out show.
Haggard's last and only trip to The Moon was back in March of 1994, when he performed two sold out shows.
Scott Carswell, the promoter at The Moon, says those performances were unforgettable.
"He was a very natural fellow, genuine, didn't have a pretention about him," said Carswell. "If you didn't know he was Merle Haggard, you'd think he was a person standing around waiting to pick up equipment...he was just a natural kind of guy."
Haggard's career spanned nearly 6 decades. He had nearly 40 songs hit the top of the country charts.
