TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - On Sunday at Cascades Park the 6th annual Tulip Trot raised money for people with Parkinson's disease.
The Parkinson's Outreach Association hosted the 5K and mile run in which 200 people particpated.
The president of POA, Gene Santopadre, explained why this is more than just a fun 5k.
"Basically it is about getting the message out and raising money for our agency," he said. "It allows us to do the outreach we do. We are a grass roats organization. We are not nationwide, so having Tallahassee come out to support us is pretty critical to do what we do."
Last year the run raced about $10,000. This year the Association says they hope to raise more than $15,000.
