TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - A family's home has been saved thanks to a neighbor who noticed smoke coming from the home and the quick work of Tallahassee fire crews.

The Tallahassee Fire Department responded to a fire at 1022 Marys Drive Monday

When crews arrived, they found smoke coming from the roof of the home. Firefighters found burning insulation in the attic and were able to quickly extinguish the fire.

TFD determined the cause of the fire was a kitchen fire that had occurred earlier in the day that was not completely extinguished by the residence.

Thankfully, there were no injuries as everyone was out of the home at the time and there was no major damage to the structure thanks to a neighbor who noticed smoke coming from the home and called 911.

Tallahassee Police Department and Leon County EMS were on scene to assist.
