TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - A faulty space heater is believed to have caused a fire at a Barineau Road home, the Tallahassee Fire Department said Thursday.
Damages are estimated to be at $20,000, TFD said in a news release.
Fire crews responded to the fire Wednesday at 5:52 p.m.
In six minutes, the first units were on scene and were met with heavy smoke and fire coming from the front of the structure.
Units extinguished the flames and made sure no one was inside.
"This is just a reminder during the holiday season to be safe. There is a lot of stuff this holiday season to be careful with," said Sarah Cooksey with the Tallahassee Fire Department. "We have more people in our homes throughout the holiday season, we're more lax and we don't pay as close of attention because we're excited and enjoying that family time."
No injuries were reported on scene.
