TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - The Tallahassee Fire Department says a child died as a result of an overnight fire at Rockbrook Garden Apartments.
Firefighters were dispatched to the apartments on 1021 Idlewild Drive at 12:08 a.m. Wednesday.
Deputy Chief Richard Jones said firefighters experienced heavy smoke and flames at the apartment complex as they removed the child from the second floor.
The child was transported to a hospital.
Jones said several units responded to the fire. Arriving at the scene, he said, firefighters saw a person in the front yard who had been removed from the apartment by neighbors.
TFD is investigating the cause of the fire.
