MADISON COUNTY, Fla. (WTXL) - A Texas woman is in serious condition after her car was hit while pulled off on the side of the road.

The Florida Highway Patrol says the crash happened on S.R. 53 early Thursday morning.

They say that the 57-year-old Texas woman was driving her Toyota Rav4 southbound on S.R. 53 at about 15 mph. Troopers say the car had slowed down and was partially on the paved shoulder of the road, looking for a place to turn around.

A Dodge Journey, with two people inside, was also traveling south on S.R. 53 around 55 mph.

Due to it being foggy and dark, troopers say the second car failed to see the slow-moving Toyota Rav4 on the shoulder, hitting the back of it.

They say the impact caused the Rav4 to spin clockwise in a circle before hitting a guardrail.

The driver of the Rav4 was taken to the Madison County Hospital in serious condition. The driver of the Dodge Journey suffered minor injuries but was not hospitalized for them.

Troopers say that there are no charges pending in this crash.
