TALLAHASSEE, FL. (WTXL) - With temperatures expected to drop below freezing, a group of citizens are stepping up to help.
The First Baptist Church in Tallahassee is opening its Christian Life Center as a temporary cold night shelter located on 108 West College Ave. The Shelter will arrange for transportation from the shelter at 480 West Tennessee St. to the temporary cold night shelter.
The temporary shelter will be open Friday and Saturday night and is made up of a team of area human service agencies, local government and the faith-based community.
The temporary cold night shelter is open to adult males only. Women and families with children are advised to proceed to The Shelter.
Star Metro, the City of Tallahassee's mass transit system, will provide transportation between The Shelter and the temporary location at First Baptist Church, when open. Star Metro will depart from The Shelter at 9 p.m. Adult males must pre-register at the Shelter by 6:45 p.m. There will be no walk-ins at the cold night shelter allowed. A return trip to The Shelter from the temporary location departs the following morning at 7 a.m.
