TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - In anticipation of low temperatures expected throughout area this week, local government and non-profit organizations are teaming up to open the temporary cold night shelter. The facility will remain open through Saturday, January 18.
Any adult male seeking refuge from the cold weather should report to The Shelter at 480 West Tennessee Street in Tallahassee, by no later than 6:45 p.m. on Thursday, Friday, or Saturday nights.
StarMetro will provide free transportation from The Shelter to the temporary cold night shelter, located at Jacob Chapel Baptist Church on 2333 Lake Bradford Road. That facility will be open from 9:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m. the following morning.
The temporary cold night shelter is open to adult males only. Women and families with children will remain at The Shelter.
The temporary cold shelter relies on volunteer work and donations to operate. Supplies such as food, towels, and other toiletries are in demand.
