HOMESTEAD, Fla. (AP) - A teenage boy accused of kidnapping a woman outside a South Florida Walgreens and then raping her at a nearby park has been sentenced to 20 years in prison.
The Miami Herald reports (http://hrld.us/1GhyUwZ) that 18-year-old Xavier Cobas pleaded guilty on Tuesday.
Cobas was 17 when he hid behind a woman's car in February 2014 as she shopped at a Walgreens in Homestead. Surveillance footage shows Cobas attacking the woman from behind as she returns to her car.
Police say Cobas claimed he had a gun. He raped her at a park, then forced her to withdraw money from an ATM before letting her go.
The next day, the victim was showing a detective where the rape occurred when she spotted Cobas on the street. He later confessed and was linked to the rape by DNA.
