Teenager Arrested For Firing Gun On Campus

TALLAHASSEE, FL (WTXL) - Earlier this summer,  Leon County Schools reported incidents of vandalism at Chiles High School and Killearn Lakes Elementary School. A 17 year old has been connected these overnight incidents.

Alexander DeFrank has been charged with multiple felonies after being connected to shootings at Chiles High School and Killearn Lakes Elementary School as well as the arson of a home.

DeFrank was taken to the Leon County Jail and is facing charges of arson, armed burglary and discharging a firearm on school property, according to the Leon County Sheriff's Office.

Assistant State Attorney Jack Campbell told the Tallahassee Democrat that DeFrank will be charged as an adult in the case.

The Leon County Sheriff's Office told the Democrat was that DeFrank's parents said that they found firearms, a knife and a bayonet in the teenager's room.

The Democrat says deputies found 10 stolen firearms in DeFrank's room as well as spent shell casings, projectiles and live ammunition.

According to Leon County Schools, in mid-August, the school district was made aware of initial felony charges against DeFrank, who is a former Chiles High student. LCS says that he was immediately expelled from Chiles at the start of the school year.
