BAINBRIDGE, Ga. (WTXL) - Bullying is an issue in schools across America, and in Bainbridge, one boy is sharing his story on how harmful bullying can be.
Zac Miller is not your normal 15-years-old. Miller struggles with a learning disability that has forced him to be held back two times.
Zac is currently in the 8th grade at Bainbridge Middle School.
Being two years older than most of his classmates has been a struggle.
Zac has been bullied for being held back.
"I was getting bullied really bad and to the point where I got beat up," said Miller.
As much as the bullying hurts Zac, he said it actually pushed him to use his own struggles to help others.
Zac said it seemed like nobody was helping him, so he took matter into his own hands.
Every Sunday, he stands out on Highway 27 with his family, holding up signs against bullying.
"It was a little nervous at first, but now that I come out here its pretty easy, It's not a thing to be embarrassed about, because it is very serious," said Miller.
Zac however, is not alone. People stop by and help along with his family.
His mother and grandmother said Zac is an inspiration to others who get
"Not many kids his age want to standup and support other kids," said Debby Miller, Zac's grandmother.
"He honestly has the biggest heart and such an old soul, and he just wants to do better for everyone and anyone...My son is my hero." said Nicki Miller, Zac's mother.
Outside of standing on the side of the road on Sunday afternoons to protest bullying, Zac has also made ribbons for others to support his mission.
The ribbons have 4 colors: black, white and brown to support people of all color, and red to represent the color of blood that all people have.
Zac said he has more work to do, but he will keep on giving what he can.
"I don't have a lot. I don't have a big huge house, big nice car, big nice truck, nothing like that, but I want to actually help people out and in their life, because, in case they are getting bullied, they can actually get help," said Miller.
Zach also told WTXL that he plans to keep standing on the sidewalks to protest bullying for as long as he can.
