MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. (AP) — Authorities have arrested a 14-year-old boy after they say he accidentally shot and killed another teen at a Miami Gardens home.

Police say he went to the home with a gun on Saturday and was showing it off when it fired and struck 14-year-old Tavaris Rhodes.

The unidentified teen has been charged with manslaughter and possession of a firearm by a minor.

It's another in a string of shooting deaths of young people in the Miami area. Last week, police arrested three teens in the fatal shooting of a 6-year-old boy during a gun battle investigators say escalated from a social media dispute.

Miami Gardens police Chief Antonio Brooklen and Miami-Dade Schools Superintendent Alberto Carvalho took to social media to lament the teen's death.

The investigation continues.
