VALDOSTA, Ga. (WTXL) - A 16-year-old has been arrested, accused of shooting at a victim's car after attempting to rob her.

The Valdosta Police Department says that on Sunday around 11:09 p.m., they received a report that someone had tried to rob a victim.

The victim told them she was walking to her car in the 3000 block of North Patterson Street when she was approached by three black males in an SUV.

The woman told police she quickly got into her car and locked her doors when the males got out of the SUV with guns. When they tried to rob her, she sped off while calling 911.

As she was trying to leave, she said that one of the males shot a gun at her car. Luckily, police say no injuries were reported.

Within minutes, Valdosta Police and Lowndes County deputies spotted the SUV. They tried to initiate a traffic stop, but the car fled. Eventually the car stopped near the intersection of Woodlawn Drive and Lullwater Drive. Police say all the males inside the car then got out and ran away.

One of the suspects, a 16-year-old, was captured and turned over the the Department of Juvenile Justice.

The two unidentified males have not yet been arrested. The investigation is ongoing.

“The Valdosta Police Department is actively investigating this case and requests assistance from any citizen that has information relating to this incident,” said Lieutenant Adam Bembry.
