(WTXL) - For some trick-or-treaters this Halloween you may see a lot of orange pumpkins on door steps, but another color you may see for pumpkins is teal.
The Teal Pumpkin Project encourages people to raise awareness of food allergies and promotes inclusion of all trick-or-treaters throughout the Halloween season.
The nationwide movement offers an alternative for kids with food allergies, as well as other children for whom candy is not an option.
"I think its important because all the kids are out here participating not just the ones who can eat candy I want them to walk away with something fun also so what I got are little toys sticky hands plastic rings as and alternative to the candy," said local resident Charla Lucas.
The color teal is used to represent food allergy awareness and it has been used to raise awareness about this serious medical condition for 20 years.
