BRANDON, Fla. (AP) — A Tampa-area man's surprise act of kindness brought tears to the eyes of one Hillsborough County teacher.

Rodney Burton was in line at Staples earlier this month and saw a woman in front of him with a shopping cart full of school supplies. Burton asked if the woman if she was a school teacher. The woman, Sharon Leto, said yes.

Burton paid for everything in Leto's cart.

The Tampa Tribune reports that Leto started crying. Leto has been teaching science at Hillsborough High School's International Baccalaureate program and often must buy basic supplies like construction paper, tissues, soap, paper towels, scissors, glue and rulers for her students.

Burton, a personal trainer and devout churchgoer, said that God told him to help someone in the store.
