COLQUITT COUNTY, GA (WTXL) - Officers have determined that the teacher found dead next to his car in Colquitt County died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation said 43-year-old Jermaine Walker was found when someone called 911 saying that he was laying still next to his car on Glow Road.

Prior to his death multiple agencies were questioning Walker, who was a language arts teacher at Jefferson County High, about reports that he was having an inappropriate relationship with a student.

Police said that he denied the allegations and police obtained a warrant to search his home last Friday, the same day he was found dead.

After an autopsy on Monday, officers said they have determined that Walker died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
