TAYLOR COUNTY, Fla. (WTXL) - The Taylor County School District says that students will not return to school until September 18.
They say that a leadership team met at 9 a.m. to discuss the status of the school.
Due to circumstances such as blocked bus routes, lack of power in homes, and heavy traffic, they have decided that staff will return to school on Friday, September 15, while students will return on Monday.
"This decision was not made lightly," the district writes, "as we have been in contact with other surrounding districts as well as the Florida Department of Education."
They say that there is also an issue with the food supply at their schools, saying that they only have enough food to supply schools for three days.
While it is a possibility that the district may get a supply truck on Monday, it is not guaranteed. However, officials are certain that they will be getting a truck on Wednesday.
