TAYLOR COUNTY, FL (WTXL) - Days after Wakulla County commissioners passed a resolution opposing the Foley pipeline, Taylor County officials have announced their support for its construction.
Taylor County Commissioners have approved a resolution at a meeting this week showcasing what they believe are the benefits of the pipeline. The pipeline would carry waste from the Foley Cellulose Mill into the Gulf of Mexico.
Officials said that they support the construction because it will help improve local water ways. They also said the mill has already worked to eliminate phosphorous, nitrogen and other unwanted substances from the water.
Though the pipeline will only run through Taylor County, commissioners in Wakulla said they are concerned that it could negatively impact water quality, fish and the bay's oyster population.
