TAYLOR COUNTY, FL (WTXL) - At the Taylor County Commission's first budget meeting, they discovered an old millage rate mistake on a notice residents received nearly a month ago.
Dustin Hinkle, a Taylor County Administrator, said that the error on citizen's "Truth in Millage" notices puts the millage rate much higher than what the board has asked for. The error has gone unnoticed until the commissioner's Monday evening meeting.
Hinkle said the property appraiser will not factor in the erroneous millage rates when property owner's actual tax bills are sent out later in the year.
