BAINBRIDGE, Ga. (WTXL) - Work is beginning on the new Taurus USA site and the City of Bainbridge is hoping new jobs will keep young people from moving away.
The city's development authority took us to the construction site, where land is being cleared right now.
Taurus USA is a leading firearms manufacturer.
The company is investing more than $22 million to build their new headquarters in Decatur County.
That's expected to create 300 jobs.
"It's a pretty technical job, so it's good jobs for kids who graduate from school, go to college, come back. There will be good jobs for them," said Rick McCaskill, Bainbridge Development Authority Executive Director. "Also, real opportunities for us to get the rest of our work force trained up with technical training, so that they qualify for some of these jobs."
Taurus is hoping to open the 200,000 square foot facility in the next 15 to 18 months.
