TAMPA, Fla. - A projectile hit and created a small hole in a second-floor high school classroom in Tampa, prompting school officials to lock down the school.

Tampa police said in a news release that all of the students and staff at Hillsborough High School were safe and there were no injuries from the projectile's impact Friday. Parents have been told about the incident.

It's unclear what the projectile is. Police and school security are investigating.

Earlier this month, two schools in Miami-Dade County were hit by stray bullets. No one was hurt in either shooting.
