TAMPA, Fla. (AP) — Tampa City Council members already get a free parking spot outside Old City Hall in the center of downtown Tampa. Now, they want free parking all over the city.
The Tampa Tribune (http://bit.ly/1QhAGwY) reports that council members voted 5-1 Thursday for the city to draw up an ordinance to let council members use any city parking lot or metered space for free.
Council members would have a plaque with the city seal that they could put on their dashboard or to show to parking attendants when exiting garages.
One member said council members often represent the city at official events around the city and need to be able to park as part of their duties.
