TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - Talquin Electric has worked hard to restore power across the Big Bend, however, many in South Florida are still in the dark.
That is why they are sending dozens of crews to help bring light back to all of Florida. Their goal is to assist other cooperations who are in need of outside help.
After Irma, crews were sent to the Big Bend from other states to help restore power efficiently. Talquin is continuing the group effort by sending their workers down south to ensure the state gets power back
"We assist when we are asked and we are glad to do so. It is an honor for us to go out and assist other cooperatives," said Maicel Green, the Media & External Affairs Coordinator for Talquin Electric Cooperative. "We are across the nation actually."
Talquin officials say once crews are done in Ocala, they will travel further south to continue efforts to restore power.
