TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - The second annual Taloofa Fest got underway in Tallahassee's midtown on Saturday.
The market styled event held on Thomasville Road between 5th and 6th avenues. It featured music and local vendors but more importantly celebrates the designation of Tallahassee as the capital city of Florida nearly 200 years ago.
So whats behind the name? Well Taloofa is actually the original name of the area we know as midtown. It was identified back in 1767 and so organizers wanted to celebrate the history of what makes Tallahassee unique and that's everything from it's name to it's community members. The festival also benefits the Tallahassee Police Athletic League.
