Tallahassee Writers Association holding conference, book festival

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. -- The Tallahassee Writers Association (TWA) is calling all writers and literature fans to attend their annual conference and book festival on May 17-18.

The theme of the event is "Discovering Florida Authors" in honor of the Sunshine State's 500th anniversary. It is sponsored in party by the City of Tallahassee, Leon County, and Council on Culture and Arts.

The festivities will take place at the Four Points Sheraton in Downtown Tallahassee. It will kick off at 6 p.m. on Friday, May 17, with events that are open to public. There will be a cash bar and free hors d'oeuvres.

The workshop begins the next morning, Saturday, at 7 a.m. and will last until 4:15 p.m. The keynote speaker will be Vic DiGenti, the award-winning author of the Windrusher  trilogy of adventure/fantasy novels. Other presenters include Mark Ari, Jamie Morris, Jennine Capó Crucet, Jammie Morris and Julie Compton. The cost for the May 18th workshop is  $100 for TWA members and $135 for non-members.
