TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL)-- Leon County girls got a chance to talk about female leadership Saturday as part of "The Empowerment Project's" mission to bring communities and girls together.
Several groups held a conference at FSU to inspire young girls using a film simply titled, "The Empowerment Project."
The film celebrates career driven women and is used to provide positive role models for young girls across the country, including those in Leon County.
The executive director of the Oasis Center For Girls explained why they decided to screen the film in Tallahassee.
"As the local community center, we are focusing on localizing that conversation. Giving girls right here at home role models right here at home, so it was really fun to organize that panel of amazing local trail blazing inspiring women right here in Tallahassee who can be real life role models for the girls here and that was an amazing discussion," said Haley Cutler.
The event included a panel of local women. "The Empowerment Project" challenges young girls to ask themselves, "What would you do if you weren't afraid?"
Over the course of 30 days, the film crew covered 7,000 miles from Los Angeles to New York highlighting the different lifestyles and industries of 17 powerful women.
