Tallahassee woman wins $1 million prize from Florida scratch-off game

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - A Tallahassee woman has taken home the $1 million prize in a scratch-off game.

The Florida Lottery announced that Tonya Barrett, 44, of Tallahassee, claimed a $1 million prize in the $5,000,000 GOLD RUSH CLASSIC Scratch-Off game at Florida Lottery Headquarters in Tallahassee.

Barrett chose to receive her winnings as a one-time, lump-sum payment of $710,000.00. She purchased her winning ticket from Petro, located at 1837 Capital Circle Southeast in Tallahassee. The retailer will receive a $2,000 bonus commission for selling the winning Scratch-Off ticket.

The $20 game, $5,000,000 GOLD RUSH CLASSIC, launched in October and features over $900 million in prizes, including six top prizes of $5 million and 30 prizes of $1 million. Overall odds of winning are one-in-2.99.
