TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - A Tallahassee woman is behind bars after police say she cut her boyfriend with a pair of scissors during an argument.

According to court documents, on Thursday officers responded to Glen Oaks Apartments for a reported theft. Police say the caller said her boyfriend showed up to her job and broke into her car.

When officers arrived on the scene, they recognized the couple from past physical and verbal altercations.

Documents say police began speaking with Debra Vanhorn, 31, about what happened. While speaking with Vanhorn, they noticed her story was missing major details and she was being difficult to work with.

Officers then moved on to speaking with her boyfriend. When officers approached him, he pulled up his shorts and showed them cuts he had on his thighs. After observing the injuries on Vanhorn's boyfriend, police started questioning him on what had occurred.

The victim told police that on Wednesday night, he and Vanhorn had gotten into an argument. He said Vanhorn became angry when the victim tried to end the argument by laying down in their bed.

Documents say Vanhorn left the room and returned with a pair of scissors. Vanhorn then began yelling at the victim saying, "Talk talk," and continued asking him questions he refused to answer.

Police say Vanhorn swung the scissors at the victim's thigh, cutting him twice. The victim told police she continued to swing but he was able to move out the way, causing her to miss. The victim said Vanhorn eventually stopped yelling and left the room.

Documents say officers tried to speak with Vanhorn about the incident, but she refused to answer any questions.

According to documents, Vanhorn was arrested and transported to the Leon County Detention Facility. She is being charged with aggravated battery on a person using a deadly weapon.
