TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - Tallahassee celebrated the newest group of American citizens at an annual Celebrate America naturalization ceremony.

Ten people from seven countries took the oath of allegiance Wednesday evening at Tom Brown Park.

Each one shared where they came from and what it means to be U.S. citizens.

Some of them have been in the country for more than 20 years working to get legal citizenship.

Among the ten, a husband and wife who came separately from India.

They say the community has welcomed their family and the journey to become part of the American dream has been amazing.

"Oh, it's such a great pleasure - like your dreams come true here," said Vikram Pancholy, now a naturalized U.S. Citizen from India. "In this country, people are so friendly. People are just -- people love you, and we have seen people accepting us without making judgment of who we are."

The new citizens registered to vote right after the ceremony.

They came here from India, Taiwan, South Africa, Gambia, the Philippines, Moldova and Iran.
