TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - The Florida Highway Patrol says Velda Dairy Road was blocked Monday morning due to a crash that ejected a 19-year-old from her car and left her with critical injuries.

The driver, Deborah Hampton, 19, of Tallahassee, was taken to the Tallahassee Memorial Hospital, troopers said.

The crash left wires across the road, FHP said.

Troopers arrived at the crash site, at the intersection of Velda Dairy Road and Tiza Trail, about 4:37 a.m. Monday.

Hampton's car was traveling north on Velda Dairy Road when she failed to keep it in the northbound lane, troopers said.

The car traveled off the roadway onto the northbound shoulder, split a utility pole in half, traveled up a small culvert incline to a driveway and became airborne, struck the ground, overturned and ejected her.
