Tallahassee teen arrested after stealing car from gas station

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - A 15-year-old was arrested after law enforcement in a helicopter spotted him fleeing in a stolen vehicle and caught him after a short pursuit.

The Tallahassee Police Department said it was informed of the stolen vehicle about 11:30 p.m. Tuesday.

The victim told police he left the vehicle at the gas pumps to enter Shell Gas Station, 530 W. Gaines St. While leaving the store, the victim noticed his car leaving the parking lot.

The Leon County Sheriff's Office helicopter spotted the stolen vehicle, and the Florida Highway Patrol attempted to stop it. The 15-year-old suspect drove to 274 Ross Road, where he got out and started running away.

He was arrested after a short pursuit, and the vehicle was returned to its owner.

The juvenile was charged by TPD with grand theft of a motor vehicle, fleeing/eluding an officer, and resisting an officer without violence.
