TALLAHASSEE, FL (WTXL) -- A Tallahassee synagogue has increased security after receiving suspicious letters in its mailbox.

Congregation Shomrei Torah has never had an anti-Semitic incident in its 40-year history, according to president David Abrams.

Abrams said the mail is "bizarre," with pages and pages talking about conspiracy theories and the Jewish people. However, no one knows where the letters came from.

Three letters were found in the mailbox some time last month, Adams said.

There was no direct threat to the synagogue or anyone in particular. Adams said much of the content didn't make sense and mentioned all sorts of figures, from the Illuminati and Def Leppard to Walt Disney and the Rothschild family.

The letters were printed out, but had no postmark, address or author. Adams said he believes all three letters came from the same person.

Regardless, the synagogue has installed surveillance cameras in light of the incident and has asked for an increased police patrol.

Officer David Northway with the Tallahassee Police Department said, "We can do extra patrols for you, or we'll come to your business or your home -- check on your home for you. We can do some follow-up to see if there's anything that we can move forward with the case to see if it does meet criminal nature."

Congregation Shomrei Torah serves about 115 families in the community. The synagogue issued the following statement:

"Congregation Shomrei Torah has enjoyed forty years of peaceful existence as part of the Tallahassee community.  We see the letters we received as an anomaly and not indicative of the views of our friends and neighbors.  While we believe that it was prudent to increase our security, we remain confident in the good will and tolerance that exists here in Tallahassee and in our nation. We are deeply appreciative of those who have expressed their unwavering support of our place in the community and of the professional and reassuring response of our local law enforcement agencies."
