TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - Thursday, seniors at the Woodville Community Center, had the chance to talk to local companies about how to protect themselves from scams and how to get health checks.

Local representatives from companies such as the AARP, Florida Department of Business Professional Regulation, and Tallahassee Memorial Hospital each provided info on how to protect seniors well-being and wallet.

The coordinator of the event explains how important events like these are.

"For them this is an integral part of their lives, because of the social connections and the fact that they can access so much at one time by coming here," said Susan Davis, Coordinator of the Leon County Senior Outreach Program. "In terms of education, resources, and health screenings. That kind of thing."

A speaker at the event spoke about the power of friendship and its importance for seniors.
