TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - The community came together to celebrate the life of well-known Tallahassee firefighter Jeffrey Atkinson Sunday night.
Dozens showed up at Bevis Funeral Home to view Atkinson one last time before he is laid to rest Monday.
Atkinson, an engineer, died Thursday night while on duty. He just turned 43 the day before. Tallahassee Fire Department officials say Atkinson's death is not related to any recent fires.
Atkinson worked for TFD for 17 years. Colleagues say his service and his impact on the community will not be forgotten.
TFD plans on live streaming Atkinson's funeral on their Facebook page Monday at 11 a.m.
