TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - Tallahassee's newest medical marijuana dispensary is now open.

Curaleaf joins at least three other companies in the Capital City, setting up shop in Midtown.

The regional manager for Florida said it was time to bring a store to the Big Bend and Midtown is one of those parts of town that keeps developing.

In fact, the building used to be a gym, but now, it's Tallahassee's largest dispensary in size.

Curaleaf has several locations in Florida. This will be their 15th store in the state.

There's a screening area as soon as you walk in. That's to make sure customers are registered with the state and are approved cardholders for medical cannabis.

Once they're screened, they can access different kinds of products. They also have the option for a private consultation if they need more help.

The regional manager said the industry has come a long way.

"Medical cannabis can treat so many conditions, and, unfortunately, there's decades of stigma cast over the beautiful product and the medicine that it is," said Vinit Patel, Regional Dispensary Operations Manager for Curaleaf. "So, lifting the stigma is going to be the biggest hurdle, and we're making great progress as a whole, in the state and in the country."

Curaleaf will be open every day. Customers can place their orders in person, online, or over the phone.
