TALLAHASSEE, FL (WTXL) -- Leon County and Tallahassee city officials are hoping to improve the community by gathering around the dinner table and talking.
"We think that there's a lot of power in the ability of people to hear from each other, the diversity of their background, their circumstances, their situations," said Mayor Andrew Gillum.
The program offers the community the opportunity to participate in "The Longest Table," a seated dinner event on Park Avenue between Calhoun and Gadsden streets, to open dialogue about issues that affect the community. The city is hoping to invite 300 people to take part.
"Bringing the community together, frankly, over a meal. Just talking. No real agenda, no program, no fancy entertainment. Just everyday people sitting down at a table and having a conversation," said Gillum.
The dinner will take place Sunday, September 27 at 5:30 p.m. Seating is limited. To register, click here or call 850-891-8181.
