TALLAHASSEE Fla.-- Changes are on the way for Tallahassee's Animal Services Center, as they conduct facility maintenance.
From Wednesday May 18 until Saturday May 21, the building will undergo maintenance work, including resurfacing floors in the main hall of the facility.
The Shelter says this will restrict access to the cat kennels during this time.
Cats will be available for adoption at Petco and only a few will be available at the shelter.
Tallahassee Animal Services Director Erika Leckington said, "If someone finds an animal we definitely want them to report to us, our shelter is still going to be open and we still want people who have lost an animal to come and look through our kennels because we will have that availability. We really want to see animals that we already have and some the strays that we are receiving to go back to their owners. So we're asking people to report the animals that they find and if they're looking to surrender an animal to hold off until next week when we have the capacity to take them in."
Dog adoptions will not be affected.
The shelter asks that owners who want to surrender animals wait until next week when the maintenance is done, they are also encouraging people to hold onto strays as they make the changes.
